Storycrafting: a 6-Week Intensive

Who is this class for?

This online group class is for writers of all levels who want to craft a full screenplay, stage play, novel, or short story in six weeks. 

What to expect:

I will help guide you to the vision you want to achieve, drawing from classic tried-and-true story techniques while bringing a new and unique perspective. This course is structured to take you through the complete drafting process and will help you achieve a MiniScript of your story. You’ll receive personalized feedback in each class while working one section of your story per week, and connect with a community of like-minded artists who can provide insight and continued support.

COURSE OUTLINE

Week 1: Blue-sky your ideas, characters, what you want to see! Storytelling Types, Structure, Concept, Character, Misbehavior, and Timeline 

Week 2: Prepping Act One, Inciting Incidents. Tell someone your story – hearing it out loud helps pinpoint issues!  

Week 3: Prepping Act Two (part one), Dialogue, Conflict, Subtext, Midpoint 

Week 4: Midpoint and Act Two (part two!), the Low Point

Week 5: Act Three: The Battle Scene, a Changed Hero, Home and Cliffhangers

Week 6: What’s next? Expanding, revisions, practical steps, professional development

ONLINE COURSE STRUCTURE:

Group meetings on Zoom to allow for exchange of ideas. Classes will consist of a lecture followed by a question and answer session, plus assignments.
